The reporter learned from Jiangsu Power Transmission and Transformation Co., Ltd. that the 110 kV power transmission and transformation cross-sea cable project of Yangkou Port Sunshine Island in Rudong County, Jiangsu's first island type substation, was completed on August 30th. Jiangsu's first island-type substation - Yangkou Port Sunshine Island, Rudong County 110 KV power transmission and transformation project across the sea cable project completed on August 30. This is the longest and farthest cable project across the sea in Jiangsu Province, with a single return distance of about 16 kilometers.
Sunshine Island, with an area of only 3 square kilometers, is a large-scale offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) energy island, which has gathered a number of petrochemical storage and trade projects such as Sinopec Jiangsu LNG. Currently, Sunshine Island receives and unloads 7 million tons of LNG annually, which can meet one-third of Jiangsu's annual natural gas demand. It is currently the largest clean energy hub base in the Yangtze River Delta region, and the annual LNG handling capacity is expected to reach 26 million tons by 2027.
As a supporting power transmission project for the construction of 10 million tons of energy island, the cable project will cooperate with the island's 110 KV substation to complete cross-sea power transmission and ensure the power supply of LNG receiving station on the island.
Chen Qingfei, director of the construction management department of Jiangsu Power Transmission and Transformation Co., LTD., introduced that because the Rodong coast is located in mudflat, it is not suitable to lay cables directly. Considering the high safety risk of erecting iron towers in the sea, the high cost of submarine cables and the difficulty of maintenance, the project team finally chose a more economical and safe cable laying method along the bridge, and used the cable channel reserved by the Second Yellow Sea Bridge to lay cables of about 16 km single return distance to connect the island with the outside.
It is understood that the cross-section of the cross-sea cable is 1000 square millimeters. "The large cross-section has the characteristics of large capacity, small line loss and excellent electromagnetic environment, which can save energy, reduce consumption, and improve energy utilization efficiency." said Meng Yu, the head of cable engineering construction at Jiangsu Power Transmission and Transformation Co., Ltd.
It is reported that the 110 kV power transmission and transformation project of Sunshine Island will be completed and put into use in October this year, which will meet the annual LNG turnover energy demand of over 20 million tons, and provide power support for Rudong to bulid a national green energy demonstration city.
